According to Shanghai Daily, local media in Mexico City are reporting that the producers of the movie are scouting for locations in the city. The filming locations that the producers are interested in are said to be Iztapalapa and Tlahuac.

"They were interested in types of caves or grottoes that are there. Given their features, they thought they could appear to be another planet," a staff member of the Mexico City’s Filming Commission reportedly said. Executives from Lucasfilm and Disney already inspected these filming locations in 2015.

Some of the scenes of the movie have already been filmed in Ireland. The cast and crew had to face some difficulties at Skellig Michael, while they were there to film the Abrams’ movie. The weather conditions there had made filming challenging for a few days and there were also some safety concerns for the cast and crew.

Most of the cast members of “Star Wars: Episode VIII” are now reportedly busy filming for the movie. According to a report by Making Star Wars, the cast members who play the roles of Resistance members in the movie have cancelled their appearance at Pensacon event to focus on the movie. Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar) have cancelled their engagement at the event.

Meanwhile, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” editors Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey told ET Online that a cameo appearance of Yoda was initially planned for the movie. The plans were evidently dropped later.

The cast members who will be returning in “Star Wars: Episode VIII” include Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker). The movie will be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia and the US.
