Mark Hamill is returning to the still-untitled “Star Wars: Episode VIII” to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker. The actor recently took to social media to update fans on one of the preparations he’s done to portray the iconic character.

Hamill took to his Twitter page to reveal that he is growing his beard again for “Star Wars: Episode VIII."

No recent details have been revealed regarding the filming for “Star Wars: Episode VIII.” However, back in September some tourists were able to share photos taken from the Skellig Michael Island set of the film. A fan named Nissenbaum claimed there will be a scene in the film involving Hamill standing on what is labelled as his “Jedi Monastery.” He added that he also heard a few other people talking about Luke Skywalker’s monastery being created out of a tent set up on a fake rock. This scene in “Star Wars: Episode VIII” will reportedly involve the use of wind and rain machines.

Hamill was also spotted at a local bar in Ireland enjoying a few drinks back in September. Making Star Wars shared a couple of photos of the actor still with a shaved chin. According to the site, principal photography of "Star Wars: Episode VIII" will reportedly officially begin middle of January. So Hamill still has enough time to grow his beard for the film.

This is not the first time that Hamill had to grow his facial hair for a movie. The actor reportedly also had to grow a bushy beard for his iconic role as the Jedi Master in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Hamill has so far remained mum about his true character in the film. Despite the many TV spots and trailers that have already been released for the J.J. Abrams-directed movie, Luke Skywalker still remains in hiding.

So far the casts list and the brief glimpse of a cyborg arm holding out to BB-8 in the trailer confirm the Jedi Master’s presence in the movie. Other than that, speculations about Luke Skywalker’s true identity continue. Whether he has turned to the Dark Side of the Force following the events of “Return of the Jedi” still remains a mystery until “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens in U.S. theatres on Dec. 18.
