A new theory about “Star Wars: Episode 8” looks at what the training of Rey will involve. There is no time gap in between movies this time around, and the next film will pick from right where “The Force Awakens” ended.

[Spoiler alert]

In a new video posted on YouTube, Mike Zeroh says that it will be interesting to see Rey (Daisy Ridley) craft her very own lightsaber in the film. Crafting of a lightsaber is an essential part of Jedi training. Previously, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) also crafted his own, but that was only in “Return of the Jedi.”

As Rey is expected to embark on a journey to become a Jedi in the next film, Mike expects the crafting of a lightsaber to be a part of the training. Since she knows nothing about the process, the fans may get to see Luke give her instructions about it.

However, the more likely possibility is that Rey will adapt Luke’s old blue lightsaber in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” While the Jedi Master uses his green lightsaber.

The blue lightsaber was an important part of the plot in “The Force Awakens,” and the film also revealed Rey to have some connection to the weapon. So, it may at least be used till the first half of the film.

Mike expects Rey to switch to a new lightsaber in the middle or towards the end of the film. He expects the weapon she will craft to be green. There is also the question of whether it will be a double-bladed or not, given that her choice of weapon was a staff.

Will Rey craft her own lighsaber in “Star Wars: Episode 8” or will the fans have to wait till the last film in the new trilogy to see that happen? The Jedi training is sure to be a nostalgic moment for those who have watched the original trilogy.
