“Star Wars: Episode 8” is expected to reveal a big twist in the tale, just as “Empire Strikes Back” did in 1980. Theories about Kylo Ren in the next movie examine the possible twists that the fans can expect to see in the film.

[Spoiler alert]

In “The Force Awakens” it was revealed that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia’s (Carrie Fisher) son. A new theory posted on the YouTube channel of Mike Zeroh suggests that it is possible that Ben is actually not Han and Leia’s son.

The theory points out that the dialogues of Han and Leia have been written carefully in “The Force Awakens.” Leia tells her estranged her husband to bring their son back, which may be a different character altogether.

So, Kylo Ren could turn out to be Han’s nephew in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” However, Mike doesn’t believe this theory because Han tells his wife in one of the scenes that he has seen their son. Even in the bridge scene, Han says he will see the face of his son under the mask Ben wears. It is only then that Kylo removes his mask.

Another theory posted by Mike suggests that Kylo Ren could be working for Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamil), and has embraced the Dark Side in order to get close to Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and destroy the First Order once and for all. It is possible that Ben may have fallen too deep in the Dark Side, and caused the plan to fail; thus making Luke feel guilty.

Kylo Ren is a very complex character, and Mike points out that there are moments in “The Force Awakens” in which the character appeared to be concerned about the Resistance, and may have been remorseful when the Star Killer Base fired its deadly weapon. Will Kylo Ren turn out to be the hero in “Star Wars: Episode 8”?
