'Star Wars: Episode 8' spoilers: JJ Abrams teases Knights of Ren backstory and Rey's Jedi vision

While “Star Wars” is the movie to watch for families and couples alike, it has been revealed that it will not be compromising what it is about to show viewers. It has been said that director Rian Johnson trusts that his audience is ready for nuance and ambiguity and he’s not dumbing his movie down for someone sensitive.
In an interview with Collider, Adam Driver who plays main villain Kylo Ren on the franchise, said that “Star Wars: Episode VIII” would bear resemblances to “The Empire Strikes Back,” with its noticeable departure from the adventure and character building tone of “The Force Awakens” and “A New Hope.” After all that is built and established, dark elements will now be introduced and that could be where The Knights of Ren come in.

Rey, whose real background fans are still trying to guess, has only caught a glimpse of the Knights of Ren in a vision in “The Force Awakens.” Although Kylo Ren has been labelled by Supreme Leader Snoke as the master of The Knights of Ren, very little is still known about them.
Recently, the audio commentary on “Star Wars: Episode VIII” has been released and has been a goldmine for fans about what is to come. Fans have learned from there that Kylo Ren and Rey have never met before “The Force Awakens” and the he may have owned Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber before.
In another section of the commentary, JJ Abrams talks about the backstory of The Knights of Ren and how Kylo Ren himself was not even included in “The Force Awakens.” This could already spell out a big chunk of “Star Wars: Episode VIII” and Abrams even hinted that Rey’s force vision contained more clues than fans had expected. This is because Rey saw things that she did not understand but were truthful. “Star Wars: Episode 8” is set to premiere in December 15, 2017.
