A major death in “The Force Awakens” is expected to have a huge impact across the galaxy in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” Cast member Daisy Ridley talked about the death in a recent interview and shared some insight about fans’ reaction to it.

[Spoiler alert]

One of the biggest characters in the franchise Han Solo (Harison Ford) was killed by his own son, who calls himself Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The death scene was witnessed by his best friend Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and new characters Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega).

“If everybody puts a piece of themselves into Han Solo and Han Solo dies – in the cinema, where it’s dark – you can express it, and it alleviates some of the pain,” Ridley said in a recent interview, Cinema Blend reports. Ridley explained why some of the fans had a very emotional response to the death scene. The actress said that watching a scene is very different from reading a news report or looking at facts and figures.

Han Solo has been around since 1977, when the first movie was released. He played a crucial role in the defeat of the Empire and was regarded as a hero by the Rebel army. His death will now have an impact across the galaxy in “Star Wars: Episode 8.”

A funeral scene of General Solo is rumoured to be featured in the forthcoming movie, according to Vine Report. The scene is described as “emotional.” The funeral will also be the place where people will talk politics, suggesting that impact of the death will be felt throughout the galaxy.

Filming of “Star Wars: Episode 8” is currently under way, with most of the filming already complete. The movie is being directed by Rian Johnson, and it will be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia.
