“Star Trek 3” director Justin Lin recently joined “Hollywood Adventures” stars Huang Xiaoming and Zhao Wei at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., to mark a milestone on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame at the cinema palace.

Having placed his hands in cement alongside Chinese actors starring in an upcoming Hollywood action comedy, Lin did not take the milestone lightly. He produced “Hollywood Adventures,” which stars Huang and Zhao opposite Tong Dawei.

Lin was born of Chinese parents and he grew up in Orange County. As an Asian-American, the director said representation has always been a big issue. He told The Hollywood Reporter that there was not much representation when he was starting out.

On the other hand, Lin said the lack of representation in Hollywood was always an issue of opportunity and was never an issue of talent. He pointed out the ongoing concern about the opportunities for minorities in Hollywood and there is still a lot more to be done.

“Hollywood should be global,” Lin said after saying that working with Huang and Zhao, who he described as Chinese movie stars and not just stars, in “Hollywood Adventures” is one way of promoting Hollywood diversity.

“Hollywood Adventures” is set to be released on June 26. It is directed by Timothy Kendall, who has directed episodes in TV series “LA I.C.E.,” “The Book Club” and “Dick Fowler, P.I.” The screenplay was written by “CrashPad” writers Brice Beckham and David Fickas.

Also in the “Hollywood Adventures” cast are “Texas Rising” actor Rhys Coiro, “The Big Bang Theory” actor Simon Helberg, Ben Affleck’s “Gone Girl” co-star Missi Pyle and the late Paul Walker’s “Furious 7” co-actor Sung Kang, among others. Along with Lin, Anne Clements, Troy Craig Poon and John Pierson produced the film with Cyndi Brenner as line producer and Joe A. Riley as co-producer.

Meanwhile, Lin is currently filming the 2016 film “Star Trek 3,” which stars John Cho, Zachary Quinto, Idris Elba, Karl Urban, Joseph Gatt, Sofia Boutella, Chris Pine and “Guardians Of The Galaxy” star Zoe Saldana, among others.

While busy filming several 2016 and 2017 films including “Avatar” sequels, Saldana is still hands-on when it comes to her twins Bowie Ezio Perego-Saldana and Cy Aridio Perego-Saldana, but she told E! News that she is not comfortable displaying her seven-month-old sons’ full identity online.
