The reigning 2014 Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka is the fourth player to qualify in the Barclays Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour Finals in London. Wawrinka has joined fellow Swiss compatriot Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal of the prestigious world tour finals, which will be staged at The O2 Arena in London from Nov. 9 to Nov. 16.

"Speaking via the tournament's Web site, Wawrinka said he was "extremely happy" that he will be able to play in London again. He said it was his "dream and goal to qualify again" in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in 2014. Wawrinka added that having qualified in the in the eight-man field of the London tennis event has been a "childhood dream." "The atmosphere in London is one of a kind and it means a lot to me to be there together with the very best players of the world," the 29-year-old said.

The year 2014 marks Wawrinka's second participation in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. In 2013, Wawrinka defeated Tomas Berdych and David Ferrer to book a spot in the semifinals before losing to ensuing winner Djokovic, 6-3. 6-3.

The Lausanne native has had an amazing performance in the current season so far. He is 35-13. He has won three titles including the Chennai Open, Australian Open, and Monte Carlo Open. His total prize money won is $4,386,968.

After Wawrinka earned a spot in the 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, the eyes of the sporting world of tennis is now focused on the remaining four places. Kei Nishikori, Marin Cilic, Tomas Berdych, and Milos Raonic are currently sitting on the last four places in the rankings. However, with three more tournaments, including the events in Spain, Basel, and Paris, other players will have a chance to move up the rankings.

US Open champion Cilic will reportedly earn the fifth spot by next week, if Berdych doesn't do well in Stockholm or if Raonic doesn't win the Moscow title. David Ferrer, Andy Murray, and Grigor Dimitrov trail behind in ninth, 10th, and 11th places, respectively.
