Fans of the “Tomb Raider” series have a lot in store for them since the latest installation in the series “Rise of the Tomb Raider” is nearing its launch. But while the game hasn’t hit the shelves yet, they could pass time with a new mobile game that tells a new tale of Lara Croft.

A new mobile game based on the “Tomb Raider” series will be launched to iOS, Windows and Android devices in the form of “Lara Croft GO.” It will be available for purchase on Aug. 27 for $5 (AU$ 6.84).

“Lara Croft GO” is developed by Square Enix’s Montreal studio. It also developed by the same team that developed a mobile game from the “Hitman” series, named “Hitman GO.” In a review by IGN, they said that the game feels pretty much like the classic “Tomb Raider” games.

In a hands-on gameplay during Microsoft’s Gamescom conference, players were treated to simpler version of the survival classic. And it did take several odes to the classic games, one of which is the starting menu which contains cycling icons from the Playstation original. However, it plays differently as well as it takes influence from “Hitman GO.”

The game is played from a top-down view, of artistically designed tombs that is home to both traps and monsters. Aside from the usual obstacles, players will also have to solve puzzles to proceed to the next area. Like “Hitman GO” before it, the game is turn-based and players will have to carefully plan their moves to assure that Lara Croft reaches the end with less harm as possible.

Aside from “Lara Croft GO,” Square Enix has also added another Playstation classic with the addition of “Final Fantasy VII” to the library of iOS devices, Droidgamer reports. The company has not yet revealed plans on making the game available to Android devices in the near future.
