Sprint subscribers using Samsung Galaxy S5 can now download the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat update wirelessly. It delivers the default Android 4.4.4 KitKat features, HD voice icon, international VoWiFi and security patches from Google.

Official Android 4.4.4 KitKat For Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5

Users of Samsung Galaxy S5 under the network carrier Sprint can now download and install the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware via Over the Air update. According to Samsung, it brings the following changes on the smartphone:

- Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, including all of its default features

- HD voice icon

- International VoWiFi

- Security patches from Google

Previous firmware updates released for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 included Wi-Fi Calling Support, camera capture during voice call, fix on alarm failure when deleting alarm and other fixes related to email, Daydream and S View Cover. Users can access the update by connecting the smartphone to Wi-Fi and going to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates.

Future Of Samsung Galaxy S5

Android 4.4.4 KitKat is not the end of life cycle for Samsung Galaxy S5. Owners of this smartphone remain eligible to Android 5.0 Lollipop expected to be released before 2014 ends. Samsung Galaxy S5 runs the Android 4.4.2 KitKat version as its factory OS with an upgrade to bring it to the final Android 4.4.4 KitKat version. Android 5.0 L update is expected to bring the following new features to Samsung Galaxy S5:

1. Project Volta which increases resource efficiency and power management using an updated monitoring tracker.

2. Material Design user interface that will be used by Google as a wide-range standard visual graphics across Web and mobile services. However, Samsung's TouchWiz UI will override this feature.

3. Android Runtime becomes the default runtime and an additional option to Dalvik. ART features an updated protocol for smoother app performance and battery efficiency.

4. Enhancements on the notifications such as how each appears and how syncing occurs among Android compatible devices.
