Marvel has reportedly offered Matthew McConaughey the role of Norman Osborn in the “Spider-Man” reboot. However, the actor has yet to confirm his involvement in the film.

Ever since Matthew McConaughey revealed to Variety that he’s read some scripts for Marvel and DC, the speculations have been varied on which comic book movie he’ll likely appear. The actor has declined to reveal which movie both studios had pitched to him. However, sources for Point of Geeks claimed Marvel had offered McConaughey the role of Norman Osborn a.k.a. the Green Goblin in the “Spider-Man” reboot. But nothing has been set in stone yet. According to the site, “these were basic talks and as McConaughey said himself, ‘Nothing has been right for me yet.’"

It’s reportedly understandable why Marvel would choose the highly talented and Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey to play as Norman Osborn in the “Spider-Man” reboot. After all, in previous “Spider-Man” films the villain Green Goblin was also portrayed by acclaimed actors such as William Dafoe and Chris Cooper.

Matthew McConaughey would reportedly also help alleviate the villain character’s “true cinematic potential,” which per Point of Geeks “has only been glimpsed, visually and thematically, in the past.” Likewise, Cinema Blend claimed having the actor portray the role of Norman Osborn in the “Spider-Man” reboot would certainly help “boost” the franchise. There’s said to be no other far better actor who can portray the character well than McConaughey, because of his incredible range in acting.

Nothing official has been announced yet regarding the actor’s involvement in the new franchise. Although Matthew McConaughey declined to give details on his talks with Marvel and DC, he assured that he’s up for any role pitched to him from the studios. “Yeah, I’ve circled some of those. But I’m sure open to it,” he said during his Variety interview.

Details to the production of the “Spider-Man” reboot have been scarce. Fans barely know anything about the new franchise aside from it being scheduled for a July 2017 release and the new Spider-Man’s cameo in “Captain America: Civil War.” Likewise, the movie still has no director attached to it. So far there have only been casting rumours, including that of Asa Butterfield supposedly having been given the role of Peter Parker.
