Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are said to be on the hunt for their new Peter Parker for the “Spider-Man” reboot. Recently, Billy Unger was speculated to have landed the role when he gave a cryptic post about the web slinger on his Instagram post. However, the actor has also denied his involvement in the film.

Billy Unger posted a rather cryptic post on his Instagram page a couple of weeks ago. The actor shared a photo, where according to Comicbookmovie, he was at the premiere of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The photo was simply captioned with “#Avengers #AgeofUltron @Marvel and #SpiderMan.”

The actor’s #SpiderMan caption has certainly intrigued numerous users as they commented on Unger possibly taking on the role of the new Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. User mattsmith917 thought Billy Unger “should be the next Spiderman” while user ed_alva told the young star, “If you're the new Spider-Man thank god it's not any of the names given on that short list of actors. You actually look like a Peter Parker.”

Comicbookmovie also noted how Marvel highlighted Billy Unger’s presence during the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” premiere. The Avengers Twitter page shared a photo of the actor while on the red carpet and captioned it, “Live from the @Avengers #AgeofUltron red carpet world premiere with @billyunger! #AvengersPremiere.”

However, Billy Unger recently denied his involvement in the “Spider-Man” reboot. The actor took to his Instagram page once again where he denied being the new Peter Parker. The 19-year old on his post said, “I'm not saying I'm Spider-Man. I'm just saying that no one has ever seen me and Spider-Man in the same room together. #TheSpectacularSpiderMan @marvel Year: 2002 Age: 7.”

Billy Unger’s #SpiderMan hashtag on his Instagram page reportedly came before The Wrap broke its story on the five young stars who have been shortlisted for the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. Writer Jeff Sneider claimed Sony and Marvel have taken a special interest on Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Liam James. However, none of these actors have been given test offers.
