Southern Cross Austereo launched a new digital radio station called MORE Digital on May 22 to cater to music lovers who are nostalgic for the ‘80s and ‘90s.

According to a news release from the company, MORE Digital will feature songs from ‘80s pop singers such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Michael Jackson, Roxette, Mariah Carey and George Michael. British pop artist Kim Wilde's eponymous radio show will also be airing on the station at 10am on weekdays and 8am every Saturday. The award-winning singer's syndicated radio show also airs on German radio stations RPR1 and Berliner Rundfunk.

"’80s and ‘90s pop is so good.. so many stars came from this era, influencing all the pop sounds of today. But amazingly, it’s hard to hear these songs on FM radio anymore. MORE Digital fills that gap. We can’t wait to get these songs back on-air and with Kim Wilde on board!" SCA Digital Radio Content Director Jaime Chaux said in the release.

Wilde's recognitions include a Brit Award for Best British Female in 1983. The songstress also had 25 singles in the Top 50 UK singles chart from 1981 to 1986.

MORE Digital broadcasts on DAB+ Digital Radio in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and is accessible via the MORE Digital app and at givememore.com.au.

SCA was formed through a merger between Southern Cross Media Group and Austereo Group. Its parent company Southern Cross Media Group Limited trades on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:SXL).

SCA offers a diverse media offerings thanks to its content partnerships, which include one with London-based digital audio social media firm Audioboom (London AIM:BOOM). Audioboom is an on-demand audio platform with over 2,400 content partners worldwide. Its recent content partner is British actor and comedian Russell Brand, whose podcast show also airs on Triple M, another SCA brand.

"Triple M is Australia’s radio home of Rock, Sport and Comedy. Now with Russell Brand on board, the third pillar becomes even stronger. He has a cult following here, and I’m proud that through our partnership with Audioboom we’ve been able to get him both on air and online for those fans," head of Triple M, Mike Fitzpatrick, said of Brand in an earlier release.

The Telegraph, The Guardian, CBS, Sky Sports, Premier League, Reuters, CNBC, Universal and Fox are also content partners of Audioboom. The platform’s ad network is represented by AdLarge Media in the United States.

The platform allows users to record and share spoken word clips via its website or flagship mobile application. The clips can be syndicated through social media.
