"South Park: The Fractured But Whole" won't be coming to Nintendo Switch contrary to previous reports that the upcoming game will be available on all next-gen consoles. After the resounding success of "South Park: The Stick of Truth," the popular animated TV series will make its debut on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the near future.

Last week, the South Park official Twitter account sent the gaming world into frenzy by mentioning Nintendo on its feed. The tweet read: "Nin-ten-do. I'm coming. I'm coming, Nin-ten-do #blizzard2017." After confusion and speculation arose on social media, gaming website IGN confirmed that the upcoming game is not planned for the Nintendo Switch.

"South Park: The Fractured But Whole won’t be coming to (the Nintendo) Switch," a Comedy Central spokesperson told IGN when asked about the tweet. Ubisoft, the developers of the game, declined to comment.

'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' release date delayed again

It was later confirmed that the tweet was a reference to a South Park episode from season 10 in which Eric Cartman, unwilling to wait three weeks for the release of Nintendo Wii, freezes himself to suspend time and space. Incidentally, the tweet coincided with the blizzard that struck the US East Coast last week. During the aforementioned episode, Cartman fails to acquire the Wii after a blizzard ruins his plans.

In the aftermath of "South Park: The Stick of Truth," fans of the comedy series been anxiously waiting for the sequel to the RPG adventure. While the previous title featured a medieval fantasy that saw Kyle, Eric, Stan, Kenny & co fight over the possession of the all-powerful wooden stick, the new release will be built around an all-out war between youthful superheroes.

"South Park: The Fractured But Whole" was originally planned for a Dec. 6, 2016 release. However, the creators of the show reportedly sought additional time to write in new references from recently concluded seasons, in an effort to bring the game up to date. The release was then pushed back to spring 2017, which has once again been delayed. The game is now expected to be released sometime in Ubisoft's next fiscal year, which begins on April 1, and ends on March 31, 2018. Several reports suggest that the game would likely be out soon after the airing of South Park: season 21 which will run through September and December later this year.
