It appears that Japanese corporation Sony is set to launch a 'phablet' called the Sony Xperia ZU a.k.a. Togari on June 25. VR-Zone further reports the smart phone-tablet, a combination between the Sony Xperia Z smart phone and Sony Xperia Z tablet, will sport a 6.44-inch Full HD screen size and Sony's Triluminos display technology which is an improved version of the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 installed on televisions and laptops.

Sony is known for offering dust-proof and water-resistant devices in their Sony Xperia range so it is really surprising to see the upcoming phablet with those impressive features. The Sony Xperia ZU may not be able to capture high-quality FHD images underwater but the device is expected to acquire the IP58 certificaiton where it can be immersed for about 30 minutes in 1 meter deep of water.

Features and specs of the Sony Xperia ZU include the 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and 8MP camera. An anonymous tipster revealed that the camera was initially expected to be 13MP but a shortage on camera modules caused the adjustment on the camera feature.

The other alleged features on the Sony Xperia ZU phablet are the inclusion of the X-Reality Engine technology on the Triluminos touch screen with a 1080p resolution. Additional specifications on the new sony device like battery and available internal storage capacities are expected to be publicly revealed once the Japanese manufacturer officially unveils the phablet.

Sony has a scheduled event on June 25 to be held in Germany and the reported date is anticipated as the official launch day of the Sony Xperia ZU. Other reports claim that Sony will unveil another smart phone at the event identified as the Sony Honami equipped with the 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
