Sony will be organizing a pre-IFA 2015 event press meeting on Sept. 2. It is all set to debut the Sony Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Compact. Fresh rumours suggest that the Japanese tech giant will also be unleashing another flagship smartphone called the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

A new tweet from Evan Blass (@evleaks) states that Sony Georgia has mentioned on Facebook that the Japanese tech company will be announcing three variants of the Xperia Z5. The Sony Georgia Facebook page is an unofficial one, but the leakster claims that its information matches the tips he has received from his sources. As of this writing, the Sony Georgia Facebook link on the tweet is inaccessible.

The tweet states that on Sept. 2, Sony will be unleashing the Xperia Z5 Compact, which will come with 4.6-inch display that supports HD resolution of 720 pixels, and the Xperia Z5 with 5.2-inch display that supports full HD resolution.

The third smartphone is referred to as the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium/Plus that will come with 5.5-inch display and support for Ultra HD 4K resolution of 2160 pixels. It will be supporting a pixel density of 801-808 ppi.

The Xperia Z4V which is aimed towards Verizon Wireless users in the U.S. is the only smartphone from Sony that supports Quad HD resolution. The handset is unavailable for customers outside the U.S., hence, there is no Sony smartphone with Quad HD screen available for global users. However, the Xperia Z5 Premium is even more advanced as it supports Ultra HD 4K resolution.

Several photos of the purported Sony Xperia Z5 Premium/Plus smartphone have surfaced and show the device's metal back panel. Like the Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Compact, the mysterious premium handset will be coming with a 23 MP camera with 1/2.2” sensor. It will be enabled with enhanced autofocus and optical image stabilization, or OIS.

All of the three unreleased Xperia Z5 models are expected to house a fingerprint scanner, GSM Arena reports. As of this writing, there is no official confirmation from Sony on the existence of the Xperia Z5 variants.
