Large smartphones are taking the market by storm like the iPhone 6 but Sony decides to go against the flow with its latest mini version of the Xperia Z3. Despite the smaller size, the Z3 Compact matches the specs and features of its "big brother."

The Z3 Compact lives up to its name "compact" squeezing all the things you want in a smartphone,The Sydney Morning Herald reports. Let's check out the "what's in it" in this mini version of the Z3.

Size and Built

Sony has designed the Z3 Compact with a slim and light design. The simple yet elegant Z3 has a 4.6-inch screen and a 12.7cm x 6.5cm frame. The phone's rounded frame makes it a "one-handed" phone while the tempered glass panels on both sides give the phone a high-end finish but at the same time provides additional protection from bumps and drops.Same with the other devices under the Z line, the Compact is also waterproof and dustproof, making the device more sturdy despite its elegant look.

Display and Camera

The brilliant display is derived from the same image processing technologies used in the Bravia line of televisions. Resolution is 1280x720, a bit lower than Android standard of 1920x1080. But compared to the bigger Z3, there is not much of difference between the two.

With its 4.6-inch screen, the multimedia and reading functionality of the Compact performs as well as the larger phones. Watching HD videos is of top-notch quality, though you will tend to put the phone a bit closer to your face.

Equipped with 20.7 megapixel 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor and adding a wider 25mm equivalent f/2.0 G lens. However, it won't capture any records on lowlight settings but in most conditions images taken in auto mode are amazingly accurate.

Other Features

The Compact also performs well as a mean music machine. Sony's Walkman software enables the device to play wide range of formats including m4a. Having two-front facing stereo speakers, even without headphones, the experience will still be a good one.

Inside its hood, this mini device is powered by Snapdragon chipset, quad-core 2.5 GHz CPU (same as its bigger version), plus all the same sensors and wireless capabilities. Equipped with 2GB RAM compared to the larger Z3 which has 3GB.

Battery Life

The battery life of the Compact is most impressive. Activating the stamina mode (disables data when you turn off screen) guarantees great results and the ultra stamina mode (switches off everything except voice calls and text messages), which claims it will keep your phone alive for more than 10 days.

Sony has also revolutionized the Xperia Z3 Compact being able to run the PS4 Remote Play. The Compact serves as a remote screen to connect to and in turn control your games on PS4, IBNLive reports. The Xperia Z3 Compact is available direct from Sony and costs $699.
