Sony has made all the right noises with the recently released Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones. As a matter of fact, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact packs high-end features, killer design and impressive under the hood configurations in a mini/compact body. The handset can easily be called as the flagship-like compact device. Nevertheless, there is a new aspect that takes Xperia Z3 Compact to a whole new level i.e. the two-day battery life sustainability.

Even though Sony boasted the two-day battery life feature during its release, there was no factual evidence to confirm the same. However, now, there are actual test results to corroborate the company's claim. Phone Arena's real-life battery test result of Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is out. The Xperia Z3 Compact backed by a killer 2,600 mAh battery unit has performed phenomenally well when compared to other devices. Apparently, the Sony handset grabbed the top spot without any trouble. The battery life sustainability rate stood at 10 hours and 2 minutes in the custom test, reports Phone Arena.

The battery test is done by running a custom script that has the ability to replicate real-life, uninterrupted phone usage. There by, the outcome of the test would give an idea of the duration the handset can survive in an average usage circumstance. The same publication however points out that, during the test the phone stays idle for prolonged periods of time. Hence, this helps the Xperia Z3 Compact to run for two continuous days without a recharge. Nevertheless, it is a huge fete for a compact/mini device to beat other handsets (non-compacts) fair and square.

Users should also note that the battery life endurance changes according to the usage of the phone. Apparently, Sony claims the Xperia Z3 Compact can provide up to 14 hours of 3G talk time, along with 10 hours of nonstop video playback and 110 hours of nonstop music playback time. Interestingly, the compact device's stand-by time stats stand at an impressive 38 days (912 hours). In comparison, the latest 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy S5 could reach only 16 days (384 hours) of stand-by time.

Furthermore, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact features a new Ultra STAMINA mode. Upon putting the handset in the aforementioned mode, the handset degrades the wallpapers to black and white and allows only basic apps to stay active. Nevertheless, there is no prize for guessing the simile between the Ultra Power Saving Mode seen in Samsung devices and Sony's Ultra STAMINA mode.

Also, the Ultra STAMINA mode can make the handset survive for a good 4 days, even with 40% of battery charge remaining under the hood. Here is a list of apps that are allowed when using Ultra STAMINA mode - Phone, Messaging, Contacts, Album, Calendar, Alarm, Clock, Calculator, FM Radio and Camera. However, readers should note that Browser app is not allowed.

When it comes to key display specifications, the Xperia Z3 Compact features a 4.6-inch IPS LCD display along with 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution. The mini handset is constructed with hardened glass back and aluminium frame wrapping the body to provide premium-look. Like many other Sony handsets, this phone also utilises Sony's famous Bravia range of display technology promising killer viewing experience. Xperia users can feel the difference in the phenomenal display especially when watching videos or playing games, according to Trusted Reviews.

Also it is worth noting that, the corners of the device are made of nylon to minimise the damage caused by accidental fall. Interestingly, the compact handset is water- and dust- resistant (IP65 and IP68 certified), similar to the bigger flagship Xperia Z3, Wired reports. In many ways, the compact Z3 can give the bigger Z3 a run for its money, with its competitive specifications and features. Therefore, the Xperia Z3 Compact is truly a mini version of the Xperia Z3.
