PTCRB certified the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware for several models of Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware carries the 23.0.1.A.0.167 build version certified for three variants of Xperia Z2 and two variants of Xperia Z2 Tablet.

PTCRB Certified Android 4.4.4 KitKat For Sony Xperia Z2 And Xperia Z2 Tablet

Long wait for Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet is soon to be over after PTCRB certified a new firmware compatible to different variants. Newly certified Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware carries the 23.0.1.A.0.167 build version for Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Tablet. Here are the variants supported by the new firmware:

- Sony Xperia Z2 D6502

- Sony Xperia Z2 L50w

- Sony Xperia Z2 D6503

- Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521

- Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP541

As of now, no exact rollout dates have been confirmed from Sony Mobile but likely to be released from this month to November 2014. Android 5.0 Lollipop is the next major software update expected to arrive on both devices with new features such as Project Volta and Android Runtime.

Since there are no change logs yet about the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, effects of the new firmware seems to be based on what Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z received recently. In order to check for the new software, use the Update Centre app installed on the device. Users can also check via Sony PC Companion for Windows PC or Sony Bridge for MAC through USB connection for Android 4.4.4 KitKat update.
