Sony has unveiled its newest product straight from its crowdfunding platform, First Flight. Dubbed as the Wena Wrist, the new premium smartwatch performs three basic functions: it serves as a digital wallet, provides notifications and tracks activity. Sony launched the new crowdfunding platform First Flight in July to finance its own products.

The new wearable named Wena, which stands for “wear electronics naturally,” sports a stainless steel design. On First Flight, potential buyers will be able to directly buy and pre-order the new device.

Android Headlines reports that the watch's built-in customisable LED notification light and vibrating motor indicate real-time notifications. As previously mentioned, the watch also supports NFC wallet, which is compatible with Felica contactless smart card system from Sony in Japan. The watch's built-in sensors can also track activities. However, for the time being, Wena only works with iOS devices.

Wena Wrist will come in two variants: "Three Hands," which has a more conventional watch face, and a "Chronograph" model with three separate dials, GSM Arena reports. These smartwatches reportedly come with a specific lifespan. The Chronograph model will run for five years whereas the Three Hands variant will tentatively last for three years.

The Wena Wrist also comes in premium black version coated with a titanium compound. Overall, it’s a premium smartwatch in looks and function, boasting smart functionality and stunning design over and under the hood.

For now, the Wena Wrist will only be available in Japan. The crowdfunding activity is reportedly picking up the pace and currently, two silver models of both variants are indicated as “Sold out” on First Flight.

The Three Hands (Silver) model will cost ¥34,800 (AU $404) and the Chronograph in Black is priced at ¥69,800 (AU $810). The Wena Wrist is expected to ship by March or April in 2016.
