The successor to the Sony Xperia C might be in the works, indicates unconfirmed reports. Back in 2015, Sony Mobile released its most recent member of the Xperia C line-up, the C5 Ultra with 6-inch full HD (1080p) display.

A set of images, purported to be the next generation of C series, has surfaced online. The images published by the Xperia Blog (via Baidu) are believed to be the next generation of Xperia C5 with a huge 6-inch display.

Sony’s C series brings in a mid-range smartphone line-up sporting an unique feature of front-facing camera with flash. Fuelling fresh rumours, the unannounced smartphone shown in pictures also feature a front facing camera sensor and flash.

According to the Xperia Blog, the design of the speculated smartphone appears to be a combination of two Xperia smartphones, the Xperia XA and Xperia C5 Ultra.

However, IBT Australia was not able to verify the authenticity of the images in the link.

Sony’s assumed handset is supposedly going through a testing phase. The rumoured smartphone will apparently house dual-SIM card slots. The unnamed device is said to be powered by a MediaTek chipset.

The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra was launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard. Only time will tell if the company would ship the refreshed lineup with Marshmallow out-of-the-box. As of writing this, there is no confirmation on the same.

Earlier this year, there were rumours that Sony might upgrade its Xperia C series at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona. Instead, Sony announced its mid-range Xperia XA series of handsets.

Sony’s upcoming Xperia XA smartphone features 5-inch HD 720p display, 64-bit Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor and 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera sensor with hybrid auto-focus and auto-scene recognition along with an 8MP front-facing selfie shooter.
