Sony Mobile has revealed the list of Xperia devices that will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade on its official blog. But it hasn’t said which devices will get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Currently, the only Sony devices running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop are the newly released Sony Xperia Z5 and the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact.

Sony devices like the Xperia Z3+, the Xperia Z4 Tablet, the Xperia C4, the Xperia C5 Ultra, the Xperia M4 Aqua and the Xperia M5 have neither received the Android 5.1 nor the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Sony Mobile might not roll out Android 5.1 and 5.1.1 updates for these devices, speculated the Xperia Blog. Hence, these devices are expected to directly receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

The Sony Mobile support page show devices running on Android 5.0 Lollipop will be directly updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It also indicates that owners of these devices will have to wait until the end of 2015 to update to the latest Android build.

According to the official Sony Mobile blog, the Japanese firm has officially revealed the list of Xperia devices that will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the near future. Here is the list:

  • Xperia Z5
  • Xperia Z5 Compact
  • Xperia Z5 Premium
  • Xperia Z4 Tablet
  • Xperia Z3
  • Xperia Z3 Tablet
  • Xperia Z3 Compact
  • Xperia Z2
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet
  • Xperia M5
  • Xperia C5 Ultra
  • Xperia M4 Aqua
  • Xperia C4

A recent update from Gizmo China also mentions that the Xperia Z Ultra GPE and the Xperia Z1 will also receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow apart from the above listed devices. While Sony has announced the listed of devices that will receive Android 6.0, it hasn’t provided a timeline as to when these devices will receive the latest Android build.
