Sony is gearing up for two areas in its business. The first is a confirmation of a new PS4 console to be announced sometime later this week.

According to PlayStation Lifestyle, the announcement was made official by PlayStation Korea. The only thing currently known about the PS4 Slim is that it’s a slimmer, sleeker version of the PS4.

Granted, the confirmation did not name what console this will be. However, speculations are running high that it may likely be the PS4 Slim. The only details given is that the reveal will include the release date and price of the new PS4 console, coming on Sept. 8 during a press conference.

The report also added that the PlayStation Blog Spain also hinted at new announcements coming at the PlayStation Meeting on Sept. 7 in New York.

The new PS4 console is not the only thing that Sony has been teasing. It appears that Sony may be looking into a way to expand into the mobile territory.

Speaking to the Financial Times, the company has mentioned looking into aggressively entering the mobile gaming territory. Given how Niantic Labs’ and Nintendo’s successful endeavor into the platform with “Pokemon Go,” it doesn’t seem like a surprising move for the company.

Sony’s Kaz Hirai not only cited the success of “Pokemon Go,” but also held high hopes for the potential of augmented reality in the gaming industry. With this, Sony may be considering having some AR features for its mobile games.

“Pokemon Go is a real game-changer. I’m very interested in the fact that it has the potential to really change the way people move, literally,” said Hirai to Financial Times.

Sony already has its own arm for mobile games. Hopefully, this does not only mean rolling out mobile games of “Pokemon Go” par in Japan, but all over the world.
