Even though Charlie Hunnam’s character Jax Teller may or may not be riding again in the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff, show creator Kurt Sutter has given a promising update on Twitter confirming that the show’s return is very near and fans are elated with the promising news.

The show ended in the year 2014 but fans were always hoping for the show’s return. Their dreams have nearly been realised, at least that’s what Sutter wants his dedicated viewers to think. In May, it was revealed that the spinoff, “Mayans MC,” was in script development at FX and may air sooner than expected.

Sutter had roped in Latino filmmaker Elgin James to get help launching the new series and recapture the show’s massive fan following. On June 28, Sutter shared a teasing message to his 557,000 followers.

“The return is near,” Sutter tweeted with a photo of the biker gang without Charlie Hunnam.

It was revealed previously that Sutter and James would be focusing exclusively on the Mayans, the Latino motorcycle club that had a “sometime rival, sometime ally” relationship with Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original (SAMCRO) and Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam).

With James as co-creator of the spin-off, he is writing a plot that will be “dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens.”

When asked why Sutter roped in James for the spin-off, he said he did not want “a white guy from Jersey” to be writing about Latin traditions and culture. He thought James was the right person for the job.

The final season of “Sons of Anarchy” saw a huge jump in ratings for FX as 9.26 million viewers tuned in to watch Jax Teller’s final ride, Variety reported back in December 2014. Sutter has not disclosed anything on the time period of the new series.

However, there is a possibility for Sutter and James to go the prequel way and include cameos by original cast members. In case “Mayans MC” is set in the future, the showrunners may include a whole generation of Tellers to join the mayhem.
