Australia’s solar industry welcomed the passing of the Clean Energy Future package by the Australian House of Representatives. Parliament has passed the controversial bill by 74 votes to 72 Wednesday.

The positive outcome of the vote shows a clear way forward for Australian industry, commerce, and the community, the Australian Solar Energy Society said.

AuSES also called for the rapid passage of the legislation through the Senate.

“AuSES supports actions which foster the generation of renewable energy. Today’s result will help Australia transition to a sustainable, low carbon economy,” said AuSES Chief Executive John Grimes.

“AuSES looks forward to continuing to work with the government on new solar projects. The government must also ramp up the complementary measures package, including drive towards energy efficiency savings in every walk of life,” said Grimes.
