After wrapping up his FX biker drama series “Sons of Anarchy,” series creator Kurt Sutter started his new medieval series “The Bastard Executioner” starring an unknown Australian theatre actor, Lee Jones, and an ensemble supporting cast. The cast and crew started filming in Wales on March 9 and ended the production of the show’s pilot episode on Thursday, April 23.

“We have wrapped,” Sutter posted on his Instagram account. “Thank you to my extraordinary production team and my brilliant cast. I measure my creative experiences by surprises. If the good outweigh the bad, I’m satisfied. But if the good make you forget the bad, I’m fulfilled.”

Known for “”Hamlet” on Motorcycles,” Sutter is back with another blood pumping series together with SOA director Paris Barclay as one of the executive producer and the show’s main director. Keeping his old tradition from “The Shield,” the controversial showrunner will also The Dark Mute, a mate and guardian of Annora who rarely speaks and show’s his face.

“Sons of Anarchy” stars Katey Sagal (Gemma Teller) and Timothy V. Murphy (Galan O’Shay) reunites with Sutter and Barclay for another bloody show playing Annora of the Alders and Father Ruskin. Sagal’s character is described as mystical beautiful who offers predictions, cures and potions; while Murphy’s role is brawny former soldier who left the military to join the seminary.

The Bastard Executioner” follows the story of a warrior knight who vows not to use his sword again after he was broken by the ravages of war. But violence found him again and was forced to pick up his sword, the bloodiest sword of all.

Jones plays as Wilkin Brattle, Sutter’s “Bastard Executioner,” an emotionally deep and spiritually tortured former knight under King Edward I’s charge. Now living a simple agrarian life with his wife Jessamy Maddox (Sarah Sweeney), Brattle is a force to be reckoned with once he pick up his sword.

“The Bastard Executioner”(#TBX) ensemble cast includes “True Blood” star Stephen Moyer as Milus Corbett, Flora Spencer-Longhurst as Baroness Lowry “Love” Aberffaw Ventris, Brian F. O’Byrne as Baron Ventris, Sam Spruell as Toran Prichard, Danny Sapani (“Penny Dreadful”) as Berber the Moor and Darren Evans (“Galavant”) as Ash y Goedwig. “The Americans” star Matthew Rhys plays Gruffudd y Blaidd for guest-starring role.
