Skype announced its own version of emojis, dubbed “Mojis,” which are video clips that can be inserted within chats. Users can now personalise their chats by incorporating special moments from their favourite TV shows or movies.

The new feature for Skype chat and messaging will allow users to browse and select a Moji by tapping an emoticon button within the chat. At times, words fall short of expressing certain emotions, and the company says the exciting new Mojis will provide “a brand new way to express yourself on Skype.”

The Skype team assembled a collection of “funniest, craziest and most iconic moments from some of the best TV and movies out there”. Thus, Mojis can be browsed either by movies or by expression. A user can have a quick preview and just insert it into the conversation.

To continuously update the Moji collection with new films, Skype is primarily collaborating with Universal Studios, Disney Muppets and BBC. This feature is the first of its kind and currently includes clips from Despicable Me, Bridesmaids, Pitch Perfect, Jurassic Park and The Muppets. Skype started rolling out the new feature on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS recently. Users can download the latest app to get new tabs for Mojis.

Skype redesigned its iOS and Android apps last week. The latest Skype 6.0 comes with an all-new look and feel. The updated app on iPhones and iPads introduces navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen. The swipe gestures enable users to quickly make a call or delete unimportant conversations, reports CNET.

Meanwhile, the Skype app on Android gets a new look with “Material Design” elements. Skype users on Android can even enjoy enhanced search and improved messaging facilities. The Skype team is said to be working hard to transfer the enjoyable Skype experience to Windows 10 Mobile.
