The Microsoft owned chat service Skype has announced a new version of the app that is exclusively available on the Windows Phone. The special feature that would come with the new update will allows users to doodle and draw. They can then send out their drawings to their friends and other users. One can doodle on a plain canvas or on other images. While the fun new addition may seem to be just for the inclusion of a fun element, it has other useful purposes as well.

Users can draw on Bing Maps as well to highlight a route and then send it across to someone who may need it. All one has to do is click on the "+" or the plus sign in Skype and then select "drawing" to start doodling. This will allow one to either draw an image or draw on an existing image. Along with the fun factor the latest update for the Windows Phone 8.1 users comes with several other quirks as well.

Those who have Windows Phones with high definition screens will now get improved clarity. The video chats will be much clearer. This means that the latest update will support high definition screens. Also, unlike before users need not separately sign into Skype, they will be automatically logged in when they use their Microsoft account that is linked to their phone. The latest update also makes the app faster and much smoother. In a blog post, Skype's Lara Kingwell posted on Monday that the main aim was to make the accessing of the conversations for the users extremely fast and the Windows Phone 8.1 app is much faster compared to the other versions on other phones.

They have also made it possible to sign in directly from their native Skype account. They need not link it to their Microsoft account on the Windows Phone. The new update was announced after the launch of Skype's dubbed Qik app that was meant to be taken on Snapchat. The app allows one to send short videos during a conversation.

For Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8, the newly updated Skype 2.24 app is available now. It can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store.
