It is evident that both platforms have clear advantage over the other and both have flaws and loopholes. Apple's platform and Google's software have been fiercely battling each other out on a worldwide scale. Many articles have already been written about the two rivals, but today six areas where Android still has its edge over the iOS and the iPhone will be tackled.

Upgrade releases from both parties abound every now and then, the iOS 7 and iOS 8 are Apple's last big updates showcasing a whole lot of functionality that answers the question of what Google doesn't have. On the other hand, Android has been identified to have six advantages over iOS.

According to BGR, in terms of choices, Android is the leading platform for many smartphones. Consumers will have the liberty to choose among the dozens of choices, which will fit their exact need and budget. However, if a consumer wants to purchase an iOS powered phone he only has the iPhone and its various models to choose from. In short, with the iOS the user will be literally confined with the iPhone as the only choice.

Expandable storage is another advantage of Android over iOS. A consumer can avail of a 16 GB phone at US$300, US$400 or US$500 and then purchase many microSD cards. Consumers will be enjoying a great deal of savings to think that a 64 GB microSD card can already be availed for less than US$30 dollars and cards are getting cheaper. But for Apple users who want ample space on their iPhones they must spend a big chunk of money. For example, the 128 GB iPhone 6 has big storage but will cost US$849 while the iPhone 6 Plus costs US$949.

Another edge of the Android, according to ZDNet, is its much better integration with Google's apps and service ecosystem. Apple on the other hand is offering a bunch of apps like iCloud, Maps, iCloud Drive and its own productivity suite. Despite all the named apps, Apple is still no match to Google's software and services. Well, in fact, Apple might never be at par in this department where Google shows keen expertise.

Android's displays are packed with incredible amount of relevant data while Apple's iOS remains to be simple and presents an interface with just wallpaper.

Better interconnectivity between apps and access to data is another advantage of having Android as your platform. The apps on iOS make users jump from one work to the other providing no flexibility and smoothness in performance unlike in Android where users can browse and work with all data using the file manager app.

Finally, Apple's devices can be picky when it comes to chargers and cables. Not to mention that the cables that match Apple can be quite expensive. But with Android, users just need a less expensive micro USB cable and a cheap charger and everything is good to go. This factor could be a minor loophole on Apple's side, but for those who travel a lot and tend to forget a cable or two this would mean big savings.
