The human body is a wonder. A report from The Guardian revealed that there are a lot of complex processes that go on within the body, which people do not know about.

You are taller in the morning than in the evening
The body is one half inch taller in the morning due to excess fluid between the spinal discs or vertebrates. Throughout the day, the body becomes stressed. Hence, the spinal discs are compressed and the fluid seeps out.

Unique tongue print
Just as everybody has a unique finger print used as a mark of identity, the tongue has a unique print as well. A study shows that it has a "geometric shape information and physiological texture information which are potentially useful in identity verification applications."

The stomach produces a new lining every three days
The gastric lining has a coat of mucus on it which protects the stomach walls from the acid produced during digestion. The book, Anatomy For Holistic Therapists by Colin Paddon, revealed that the mucus in alkaline neutralizes the acid, thus forming a barrier. The stomach lining renews its cells every three days as it cannot withstand the acid for long.

The heart renews itself about three or four times in a lifetime
It was thought that the heart cannot renew itself, and remains the same age as the person. A new research by experts at New York Medical College found that the heart contains stem cells that help it renew itself every 20 years.

The appendix stores good bacteria
A new research has found that the appendix is useful to the bacteria that help the digestive system. It is a storehouse for the good and beneficial bacteria. When these finally leave the system, the appendix gets them growing again.

Eyelash mites
According to The Guardian, eyelash mites are tiny creatures that live on old skin and on the sebum produced in hair follicles. These are harmless and transparent. Almost half the population have eyelash mites, the website states.
