The Irish singer who made the song "Nothing Compares 2 U" a hit in the 1980s sought help via Twitter after attempting to kill herself.

The 45-year-old Sinead O'Connor battled controversies after a recent divorce announcement from her marriage that lasted only 18 days.

This time, it seems the washed up singer is on the verge of killing herself. According to a confession she made to a popular UK paper, The Sun, she consumed a number of pills that would give her an overdose. O'Connor has been suffering from bipolar disorder and this is not the first time she made a suicide attempt. Her last one was in 1999 when she was 33 years old.

It was through her Twitter account that she reaches out to many of her followers and just about several days ago, she made a claim that she is in a very dangerous situation. It was in September of last year that she also expressed over Twitter all her thoughts of suicide and even gave a message to her fans stating it to be 'a cry for help.'

If there is one thing that Sinead O'Connor may be right about is her need for dependable and expert psychiatric help. No one knows how much worse can things turn out for the singer who has been known for her bald head, but early prevention can still be of good help.

It is ironic though that she was even married to Barry Herridge who is an Irish therapist.
