The one-off Victorian special episode of “Sherlock," titled "The Abominable Bride,” is set to air on television channels on Jan. 1, as well as getting a selected theatrical release in Australia, UK, U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Russia and a few more select territories.

The Special episode of “Sherlock” is scheduled to air on Jan. 1 on BBC One and PBS in the UK and U.S., respectively. The show will air in Australia on Jan. 2 exclusively on streaming site Stan as well as in select cinemas.

According to sherlockology.com , there will be 20 minutes of additional footage for cinemagoers, which includes a set tour of 221B Baker Street by series co-writer Stephen Moffat and a ‘making-of’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock Holmes, and Martin Freeman, who plays Dr John Watson. In addition, the cinema release of “The Abominable Bride” has been mixed in Dolby Atmos audio, featuring a maximum of 64 unique speaker feeds in cinemas capable of outputting in the audio format.

BBC Australia and Sharmill Films reported that the Australian cinemas to show the special are as follows: In Victoria, the movie will be screened at Cinema Nova, Palace Westgarth, Palace Balwyn, Palace Brighton Bay, Palace Como, Palace Kino, Regent Ballarat, Classic Elsternwick, Cameo Belgrave, Lido Cinema, Sun Bairnsdale Cinema, United Craigieburn, Star Cinema Bendigo, Sun Theatre Yarraville.

In New South Wales, these cinemas will screen "Sherlock" special episode: Hayden Orpheum, Ritz Cinema, Palace Norton Street, Palace Chauvel, Avoca Beach Picture Theatre, Majestic Sawtell, Riverside Parramatta, Narooma Kinema, Roseville Cinemas, Limelight Tuggeranong, United Warriewood, United Narellan, Mount Vic Flicks, Great Lakes Cinema.

In The Australian Capital Territory, only one cinema house the Palace Electric will screen the "Sherlock" new year special.

In Queensland, Palace Barracks, Palace Centro, Majestic Nambour, Limelight Ipswich, New Farm Cinemas, Balmoral, United Eldorado, Regal Twin Graceville, Gold Coast Arts Centre will be screening the Victorian Special episode of "Sherlock."

There are many more cinema chains that will be screening the special episode of "Sherlock" in addition to those listed here. Other states like South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania have a number of theatres that will also screen the special one-off episode of "Sherlock."
