Showtime has publicly announced that "Shameless" is all set for its upcoming season 8. It will begin production in May 2017. The said season will have 12 episodes all in all.

The Gallaghers will be back for a new adventure next year. The synopsis and plot for the upcoming season have not been released yet. However, the storyline will still be connected to the last episode in season 7.

In the finale episode of season 7, the family looked like they were all in good terms. However, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) was attending AA meetings. In that episode, it was seen that he wanted to return to college and do something amazing with his life.

In the upcoming season, viewers of the show will be able to see if he will continue being a good guy or not. Another thing that is in store for fans of the show is what Lip will do about his life. Season 8 will start off with Lip being the talk of the town.

On the other hand, "Shameless" star Emmy Rossum now has new contract with the show, clearing a recent salary dispute. The actress asked that she be paid for her performance and equally as her male co-stars. The reason for this was that she was being paid less than the pay that co-star William Macy had been receiving. She has announced that the issue has been resolved and she now has a new contract and agreement with the show. The amount of her new contract has not been publicly revealed.

Viola Davis, currently starring in ABC's "How to Get Away With Murder," has also expressed her thoughts on the said issue and said that she believes in equal pay. "I’m sorry, if a woman does the same job as a man, she should be paid the same amount of money."

"Shameless" is shown every Wednesday at 8:30PM on SoHo.
