With “NCIS” and “Blue Bloods – two of the most popular cop television series – returning in September, fans are growing impatient over the comeback of “Shades of Blue” Season 2.

On Saturday, NBC’s “Shades of Blue” posted a throwback photo of Jennifer Lopez as Detective Harlee Santos on its Twitter account, with the caption “Harlee is the ultimate badass.” Followers of the show couldn’t agree more, and wondered when they can see the feisty and fierce female cop on the small screen.

In an earlier post, fans were reassured that the show will air a mind-blowing Season 2, and it’s definitely worth the wait. “Our crew will be back before you know it,” read the tweet. In another post in July, “Shades of Blue” uploaded what seemed like Lopez’s selfie while filming the TV series.

In April this year, NBC renewed “Shades of Blue” for another season. Similar to the first run, the series will only have 13 episodes for Season 2. Elizabeth Wagmeister from Variety shared this tidbit, which reportedly came straight from showrunner Jack Orman. Reports claimed that the episode order depended on Lopez’s busy schedule.

“Shades of Blue” follows the life of Harlee, a single mother who works as an NYPD detective turned FBI informant. She is joined by a stellar cast which includes Emmy Award winner Ray Liotta giving life to the character of Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, the leader of the pack who takes the law in his own hands.

Completing the show’s lineup for Season 1 were Warren Kole, Drea de Matteo, Dayo Okeniyi, Vincent Laresca, Hampton Fluker and Sarah Jeffery. “Shades of Blue” is created by Adi Hasak, who also co-produces it with Lopez and Ryan Seacrest.

In the final episode of Season 1, Harlee was seen asking for Wozniak's forgiveness for working with the FBI. He said he’s forgiven her and understands why she resorted to betraying the team. In terms of her personal life, Harlee sent her daughter off to live with her aunt while she set out for a dangerous mission. The final scene appeared Harlee’s day of reckoning, as it showed her killing her ex-boyfriend, Miguel Zepeda (Antonio Jaramillo).
