English comedian Simon Brodkin will be charged with trespassing for the money prank that he did to FIFA President Sepp Blatter. The prank happened during Blatter’s press conference in Switzerland.

According to a Belfast Telegraph report, Brodkin was detained after interrupting Blatter’s press conference and showering the FIFA President with fake money. The Zurich City Police Department spokesman confirmed in a statement that they interrogated Brodkin before he was released.

However, Brodkin will still be charged with trespassing in the coming weeks for his misconduct. The spokesman further added that the prosecutor will be the one to decide if there will be a trial.

According to Sky News, Simon Brodkin appeared as his character named Jason Bent during Sepp Blatter’s press conference held on Monday, July 20, in Zurich. Blatter, 79, was about to provide the details on the special election for the new FIFA president when Brodkin interrupted the announcement.

Brodkin approached Blatter’s desk while holding a lot of fake cash. Then, Brodkin explained that he was at the press conference to “represent a North Korea 2026 bid for the World Cup.”

Security arrived to escort Brodkin out. “Here you go Sepp,” Brodkin declared as he threw the fake dollar bills at Blatter while the security team escorted him out.

The press conference was cut short for a couple of minutes to clean up the mess. Blatter excused himself after Brodkin’s fake money prank and explained to the media that what happened had nothing to do with football.

Brodkin managed to share on Twitter about his appearance at the press conference in Zurich. Brodkin posted on Twitter account @Jason9Bent that he is excited to meet Sepp Blatter in order to “secure the #NorthKorea2026 World Cup.” Click HERE to see photo.

Brodkin, who also uses the stage name Lee Nelson, shared another image on Twitter account @RealLeeNelson to prove that he is the “official ambassador for the #NorthKorea2026 World Cup bid.” The edited image shows Brodkin as Jason Bent holding lots of cash next to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
