Controversial new Palmer United Party Senator Jacqui Lambie is again creating headlines by issuing comments and statements that shock Australia. The lawmaker, who called Prime Minister Tony Abbott a psychotic politician and said in a radio interview that her suitors should be well hung, warned on Wednesday of mass suicides among Aussie youth.

She explained that young Australians "are losing their self-esteem and their self-respect and all its going to do is make these guys think about taking their own lives and won't be responsible for that."

Under the proposed changes in Australia's next federal budget, young people would not be able to draw unemployment benefits for six months to encourage them to try and find employment.

Professor Raja Junankar, a professor at the University of New South Wales industrial relations, also warned of dire consequences of changing the dole out scheme, although the scenario he painted was less gruesome compared to what Lambie had forecast.

""If they do not come from affluent families they will become homeless and either depend on charitable organisations or resort to petty crime," Junankar was quoted by the Daily Mail.

The changes are part of the budget proposal which Lambie said she would not support even if the Coalition brings down to just one month the waiting time for the unemployment benefits.

Mr Abbott is insistent that the change aims to motivate people in search of employment opportunities to be more proactive in seeking jobs. He stressed, "Looking for work should be a full-time job if its being done on the Commonwealth taxpayer."
