Selena Gomez went to United Arab Emirates with her friends to celebrate her New Year holidays but ended up creating so much controversy that the starlet had to delete one of her Instagram pictures. The "Come and Get it" singer sparked an outrage when she showed off her leg and ankles during her visit at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The act is considered as an insult to Muslims since it is not deemed appropriate to show flesh in a mosque.

A person visiting a mosque needs to adhere to its rules and regulations that also requires females to wear ankle-length skirt. But the ex-girlfriend of Justin Bieber violated the rules by flashing her ankles inside the Mosque with an unknown man. The Texan beauty also made headlines by posing casually with her friends Kendall Jenner, Shay Mitchell, Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid inside the mosque complex. The group looks in a jolly mood and are posing holding hands and falling over each other.

The singer's action inside the mosque have caused fury on social media and her pictures have received negative comments not only from Muslims but people from other religion too. The singer has deleted the picture where she showed off her ankles but kept the one where the group is posing together. The people commenting on her picture are of the opinion that a mosque is a place of worship and Selena should not have indulged in such casual behaviour.

"What I have a problem with is you trying to Justify disrespectful behavior in a place where people come to worship. In my 18 years of being a Muslim I've never heard of the prophet (SAW) allow dancing in mosque, mosques are strictly for worship," writes aliya.adan on Instagram.

"This picture is not appropriate for ANY church/mosque/holy place! I would never take a pic like this in my church!," writes ana_fokina on Instagram. It is not the first time that a celebrity has faced problem inside this mosque. In 2013, singer Rihanna was asked to leave the same mosque for taking pictures inside it without the permission. The Barbados beauty was covered from head to toe in a black jumpsuit when she posed for those pictures.
