Selena Gomez releases her new single "The Heart Wants What It Wants," and the official music video has so far gathered nearly 70,000 thumbs-up on YouTube after only a couple of hours. A number of social media users have expressed on Twitter they are convinced the lyrics are about Selena's relationship with Justin Bieber.

"I can't even see clearly. Barely 3 hours of releasing ["The Heart Wants What It Wants"] and you made it number 1 already. (All caps) Thank you," Selena Gomez says Friday morning (PDT) on Twitter.

#TheHeartWantsWhatItWants is now the first trending topic worldwide, and it is expected to hold its rank for at least a couple more hours.

Selena has earlier tweeted about being up as early as 4am, receiving support and congratulatory gestures from loved ones.

Selena's new single and video are drawing a mix of applause, intrigue, and criticisms.

Twitter users, as well as various media outlets, are linking Justin Bieber to Selena's new single, as the video depicts a woman who feels miserable in her relationship, but could not let go. The lyrics goes, "The bed's getting cold and you're not here/ The future that we hold is so unclear/ But I'm not alive until you call/ And I'll bet the odds against it all."

On Instagram, Selena posts this photo of presents from her bestfriends. The image has drawn nearly half a million likes in three hours.

Selena's monologue, the spoken part at the beginning of the 'Heart' video, tells the story of a woman who knows his man's heart, "feeling so confident and feeling so great about myself and then it just be completely shattered by one thing. By something so stupid."

"You make me feel like it's my fault. I was in pain," says the last line in the monologue, spoken by Selena Gomez, sobbing.
