Selena Gomez has been criticised on Twitter after trying to defend bestie Taylor Swift in light of ongoing feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The "Hands to Myself" singer gets praised on Instagram and suffers on Twitter right after.

Twitter Foe

Sure, Selena is popular on Twitter. She’s got 44.1 million followers and her tweets get thousands of likes and retweets. But that’s not what’s making her hit the headlines these days.

Unsurprisingly, Selena goes out her way to protect and defend bestie Taylor Swift once again. With the latter involved in a huge dispute with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, the “Same Old Love” singer gets dragged in the battlefield.

As Kim K’s videos have rounded up headlines and social networking sites that had Taylor branded as a “liar,” a “snake” and a “Regina George” in real life among others, Selena posts a series of tweets to retort back.

One of the tweets Selena posted says, “There are more important things to talk about... Why can't people use their voice for something that fucking matters?”

While thousands liked the tweet, there were thousands who pointed out the “hypocrisy” of the artist. One of the most supported tweets was when a Twitter user called out against Selena, asking her on why did she not use her voice for the Black Lives Matter and police brutality issues. This caused uproar and people started criticising the singer, and even started the trend #SeleneGomezIsOverParty.

As it is, Selena should probably stick around Instagram for a while; stick with the pretty pictures and away from reckless responses.

Instagram Goddess

The former Disney pop star was recently given the title of Instagram queen after she became the most followed person in the social media site with 90.4 million followers. Her reign was later established when one of her photos became the most “liked” photo.

The photo, which currently has 4.6 million likes, showcased Selena sipping a Coke where the bottle displays lyrics from her song “Me and the Rhythm.” She captioned the photo, “when your lyrics are on the bottle."

Selena defeated previous record holder Instagram King and ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber for this “well liked” feat. What’s more was that Bieber’s most liked photo was a throwback of him and Selena kissing, which he gave a simple caption: “feels.”

Now the “Hands to Myself” songstress is totally ruling over Instagram but is yet to win over the Twitter world.
