Selena Gomez recently had “Jelena” fans go into panic mode when she shared a photo of Christopher Mason on her Instagram. The singer didn’t caption the shot but users have since shared their disapproval that she may be replacing Justin Bieber for good with the male model.

Gomez posted Mason’s photo on Thursday and it has received a million likes and over 29,000 comments. The photo also made fans go crazy with speculations on why she had Mason’s photo up on her Instagram feed. Without providing any captions, fans of Gomez’s relationship with Bieber; otherwise called as “Jelena,” have expressed their concerns over a possible romance between Gomez and Mason.

Instagram user lamakawar@aammyynnaa wrote, “But why?!” while another fan named mrdn@szelazek said, “Omggggg what is happening.” Some commentators even compared the model to Bieber. A user named camspace wrote, “But the Biebs has a better personality though,” while another named tianadaniel7 said Bieber is “hotter” than Mason.

The two men have a few similarities though. They both have blonde hair and body tattoos. Looking at Mason’s photos on his Instagram shows he too knows how to skateboard. However, whereas Bieber has two younger siblings, the L.A.-based model already has a daughter. According to US Weekly, Mason appears to be in a relationship also.

The “Same Old Love” singer shared Mason’s photo after Bieber posted Cindy Kimberly’s selfie on his Instagram on Dec. 8. The “What Do You Mean” singer had initially spurred a massive Google search when he asked fans’ help to find out the identity of the gorgeous brunette with his caption, “Omg who is this!!”

Likewise, Gomez shared Mason’s photo amid rumours she and One Direction singer Niall Horan are dating. The pair has been spotted hanging out together after the American Music Awards (AMAs). Horan had also said he would marry the “Hands To Myself” singer.

However, the 23-year old told Entertainment Online on the red carpet at the “Billboard 10th Annual Women in Music” event in New York City that she and Horan are not an item.

"Oh my god! No. I love him, I always have. He's amazing,” she said.
