Curtains have finally been raised from the schedule of 2016 Adelaide Festival of Arts, which is an arts festival held in Adelaide every year.

Adelaide Festival of Arts is a fun-filled occasion that is composed of various events based on opera, theatre, dance, classical and contemporary music, cabaret, literature, visual art and new media. The highlight of the festival will be an 11-hour trilogy of plays based on Scottish kings courtesy of the National Theatre of Scotland and National Theatre of Great Britain. This will mark the Australian debut of the play that focuses on the lives of the three Stewart kings in 15th century Scotland.

Thirty acts of theatre, music, dance and visual arts will be showcased in the 2016 festival, which is scheduled to run from Feb. 26 to March 14. In addition, the program comprises seven world premieres and 21 Australian premieres.

Artistic director David Sefton, who has been organising the event for the past three years, has explored all the possibilities to take the festival to a higher level. This time, the festival will have several key events including performances by one of the loudest American drone metal bands in the world, Sunn O))), a pyrotechnics spectacle and a Pina Bausch’s dance composition.

“Because it’s my last fling, as it were, it’s a chance to pull together all the interesting work locally, because I think there’s a lot of good things come out of the scene here,” Sefton told In Daily.

Giving details about his fourth and final festival, Sefton said he plans to carry out the upcoming edition of the event with a bang. In addition to the fun-filled events, the organisers have included the Adelaide Writers' Week.

The inauguration of this annual event will be done amidst eye-popping fireworks at the Adelaide Oval by Groupe F's À Fleur de Peau on Feb. 26, 2016. Sefton also hinted at the presence of South Australia's finest artists at the festival.

Approximately 10,000 tickets have been sold only in three days. This explains the craze of the event amongst people, said the organisers.
