So what does it take to become the World's Best Dressed Women? A svelte figure, sparkling complexion, some Christian Louboutin shoes and designer dresses from Giambattista Valli, Stella McCartney and many others.

If we combine all these qualities in one person, we get "Scandal" star Kerry Washington. The beautiful actress has been named world's best dressed woman by People magazine.

Washington is known for her love for vibrant colours and exclusive designer wear gowns at the red carpets and she carries them with equal ease. The 36-year-old American born star dazzled everyone at the Oscars in a coral Miu Miu gown and chose to show off her wonderful figure in a draped-neck Vivienne Westwood dress at the Emmys last year.

And what did this "Django Unchained" star chose to wear at Tuesday's pre-Emmy reception? We saw a very vibrant Westwood dressed in a hot-pink cocktail frock and it suited the actress a lot. The lady kept her look simple with hardly any accessories other than silver earrings and a white clutch. She let her hair tied up.

Giving style tips to her fans, the actress revealed that the key to dress well is to find a balance between how much you want to reveal and how much to expose. One should not wear too much of anything and opt for a "middle ground."

"I like to find balance in an outfit where it doesn't feel too much of any one thing," Washington tells People. "It's not dressing like a nun and it's also not dressing like I'm in a swimsuit competition. It's finding the middle ground."

But it's a pity that the super stylish actress gets to wear boring power suits in her sitcom "Scandal" but she still carries them with grace. Washington works with stylist Erin Walsh. The actress is slated to appear at the upcoming Emmy Awards, where she is competing for best actress in a drama for her role in "Scandal."

Other celebrities picked up by People magazine include Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Kate Bosworth and Zoe Saldana. But we are really looking forward to what Kerry will wear at the Emmy's over the weekend.
