Cyrus may be out of prison, but he is not taking over the White House in “Scandal” season 6 episode 11. Olivia and Fitz then deliver a blow Mellie isn't expecting at all. Meanwhile, someone gets killed off.

On Thursday night, Mellie (Bellamy Young) decides to concede the presidency until Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi) intervenes and challenges her. So Mellie shows up at the OPA office while the team takes care of Huck (Guillermo Diaz) to tell Olivia (Kerry Washington) that maybe they should just let the electoral college decide.

Sensing that Mellie and Elizabeth are planning something, Olivia reaches out to Cyrus (Jeff Perry) but he is not interested in forming alliances with Olivia again. Then Olivia talks to Frankie Vargas’ (Ricardo Chavira) widow about doing an interview to endorse Cyrus. Before they can move forward with the interview, Rowan “Eli” Pope (Joe Morton) warns his daughter to stop getting Cyrus back into the White House or she might end up dead.

As Cyrus’ numbers shoot up, his husband Michael shows up on television to tell the world that Cyrus is a cheater and liar. Olivia slams Mellie for Michael’s stunt but the latter denies having a hand on it.

Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) pays Cyrus a visit. When Cyrus finally pours his heart out on how he was left alone in prison, Fitz apologizes and tells him, “Do you remember what I gave you in the hospital? The night of the assassination? America.”

This motivates Cyrus to finally shave and give a press conference. He tells the American people that he is not worthy of the presidency. He, however, adds how much Vargas is worthy of the post and that through Vargas’ spirit, he might be able to lead the country.

As teased earlier, the ongoing power struggle will cause someone’s life, and it does. The major casualty of “Scandal” season 6 is Elizabeth North.

Sarah (Zoe Perry) and her gang reveal that they are just using Mellie to get in the White House. Their ultimate plan is to actually run the office. Mellie tells the gang that she is not afraid of them, assuring that they will pay for the murder of Vargas. Sarah then picks up a golf club and bludgeons Liz to death. When Liz is already dead, they tell Mellie that Sarah will be her chief-of-staff and if she doesn’t comply, they will kill the president’s children. Mellie has no choice but to call Olivia for help.

Meanwhile, FBI Director Angela arrests Olivia after she finds the money trail set up to make it appear that the crisis management expert funded Vargas’ murder. Olivia asks Fitz to help Mellie, but the president is more concerned that his love is going to jail.

On the day of the electorate vote, Fitz sends Angela on an assignment to another state. Rowan gets arrested for the murder of Vargas while Olivia’s life remains in danger. When the votes come in, Mellie is revealed to have won the election.

However, when she arrives at the White House, Rowan is already there. It turns out that Fitz had Rowan arrested and brought to the White House so they can take down Sarah and her shadowy organization. Millie Grant is actually their Trojan horse.

“Scandal” season 6 airs every Thursday at 9 p.m. EST on ABC in the US. It also airs in Australia on Seven Network.
