“Scandal” Season 4 finale was full of surprising twists. The final episode wrapped up with Olivia and Fitz kissing each other, standing at the White House’s balcony. These two finally reunited but what happened before the fairytale scene has set the foundation for “Scandal” Season 5.

Fitz asked Mellie, the new Senator of Virginia, to pack her bags and leave his house. He fired Cyrus and Lizzie Bear moved into his office as the new chief of staff. Jake said goodbye to Olivia, saying his mission is complete. He also told her that he loves her but she loves someone else and she should go for what she wants. Also in the episode, Rowan Pope -- Eli actually as the command remained invincible -- was incarcerated, but not for the crime he committed as the command of B-613. Olivia managed to put him behind bars for embezzlement. Mom Pope was out of prison. And Quinn was last seen pointing a gun at Huck, as he had killed the jurors of the trial against Rowan and B-163. David Rosen decided he loves his life and Abby more than justice and ended up doing things not expected from him.

In the upcoming “Scandal” Season 5, Elizabeth North is set to play a crucial role, as Portia de Rossi, who plays the character, has been promoted to series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR). Lizzie is the reason why Fitz kicked out Mellie and fired Cyrus. She told him about Mellie’s meeting with billionaire Damascus (Rowan) and that she had a hand in the brutal killing of grand jury members. Fitz also found out about Cyrus’ collusion with Rowan, his cover-up and his role in temporary incarceration of Olivia and Jake, and in Mom Pope’s freedom.

Speaking about what is in store for her character, Bellamy Young, who plays Mellie, told THR, “ I don't know how she'll go forward -- especially because not that long ago, she couldn't even get dressed or act right because she was still mourning Jerry. So all this new, fresh ugliness, I genuinely don't know how Mellie will cope.”

Meanwhile, Guillermo Diaz, who plays Huck, has told TV Guide Mega Buzz that he is “pretty sure” that Cyrus and Mellie would move back to the White House. He said that once the President finds out the complete truth about why Mellie gave Rowan the grand jury list, the conflict between the two will be resolved. The actor pointed out that it was not revealed what Lizzie told Fitz and it is possible that she could have implicated Mellie more.

Earlier this month, ABC renewed Shonda Rhimes created political drama series for another season. “Scandal” Season 5 is expected to premiere sometime this fall.
