It's a record breaker night for television series "Saturday Night Live." The NBC's hit show now holds the record for taking home a total of 40 Emmy Awards, a highest for a single program. It was not enough for the show to win the Primetime Emmys and Creative Arts Emmys but it also nabbed few more prizes thus beating the previous record holder "Frasier."

"Saturday Night Live" won a 2013 Primetime Emmy for Directing in Variety Series and Creative Arts Emmys for Outstanding Art Direction for Variety or Nonfiction Programming and Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special.

Twitter is celebrating the record win for the NBC series.

"#SaturdayNightLive has now won 40 Emmys overall as of tonight, a new series record -- beating #Frasier, which had the previous record (37),"said TV guide magazine on Twitter.

"Saturday Night Live Surpasses Frasier's Record for Emmy Wins: As if Saturday Night Live taking home Primetime," said another user News Crazy.

The eleven-season-running series "Frasier," previously held the record with 37 Emmy wins, beating out "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." But with a grand 40 Emmy Awards, "Saturday Night Live" is the new record holder officially unseating Dr. Frasier Crane.

However, the "Frasier" fans should not get disheartened as the TV series still holds the record for the most consecutive wins for Outstanding Comedy Series. "Frasier" won consecutively from 1994 to 1998. But we fear that the record might be broken by ABC's "Modern Family" who has won their fourth Best Comedy Series Emmy Award in a row tonight.

However Saturday Night Live also received criticism for getting nominated for the Best Variety category. "Ironic that Saturday Night Live got nominated for Best VARIETY Series since the cast has such little diversity. #Emmys," said Hari Kindabolu on Twitter.

In other news "Saturday Night Live" alum Andy Samberg tied the knot this weekend. The "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star married musician Joanna Newsom at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, Calif., on Saturday, according to US Weekly.
