The Memphis Grizzlies (43-39) face a must-win situation Thursday when they host the San Antonio Spurs (61-21) in Game 6 of their first-round series. After levelling the series at two wins apiece in Game 4, the Grizzlies suffered a 116-103 away loss in Game 5 as the Spurs claimed a 3-2 series advantage.

Neither team has managed to secure a road win in the nine overall meetings (four in regular-season) between the Grizzlies and the Spurs in the 2016-17 season. Therefore, the Grizzlies are expected to prevail in the Grindhouse and extend the series to a Game 7 back in San Antonio over the weekend. The Grizzlies, led by Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, remain one of the toughest teams to beat at the FedExForum, their home court.

While Conley is averaging 24.4 points, 7.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds through the first five games of the series, Gasol has tallied 19.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs. The big Spaniard is shooting a remarkable 60 percent from three-point range. "We're treating every game like it's a Game 7. We're treating every game like it's the last game. We expect to come back (to San Antonio) -- that's our mindset," Conley said entering Thursday's Game 6, via ESPN.

Meanwhile, Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard has proven to be nearly unstoppable in the series, averaging a career playoff-high tally of 31.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists through the first five games. After Grizzlies coach David Fizdale jokingly asked reporters suggestions to stop Leonard, his counterpart, Gregg Popovich credited Leonard for improving his game on a yearly basis.

"(Leonard has) gone through the ceiling, improving every year, with all parts of his game. He understands that he's a facilitator as well as a scorer," Popovich said after Tuesday's Game 5 victory. Leonard, one of the leading candidates to win regular season MVP, is shooting an impeccable 58 percent from the field and 54 percent from three-point range.

The Grizzlies are facing tough odds. To advance to the second-round, they must hold serve at home and then pull off an away victory against the Spurs for the first time in over three years. "We're not going to back away from this. The good part is that I've got a locker room full of guys that want to get back and play Game 7. Well, Game 6 (first) is obviously our Game 7," coach Fizdale said on the eve of Game 6. Spurs vs Grizzlies live streaming and NBA Playoffs 2017 live streaming info follows.
