Samsung had actually accumulated a multitude of patents for dual screen displays that are foldable over the years, according to Tech Times. However, their prototypes never made it to the market.

Still, the Korean tech giant possesses the necessary tech to come up with such unique screens, that smartphone users started to wonder whether or not Samsung had any plans of launching a foldable device in the future. It would turn out that the exact screen that the company had in mind has just not been equipped yet.

The evolution of Samsung’s screens seems to give proof of how close the company is to perfecting a unit with a foldable, dual screen. As pointed out by Uber Gizmo, Samsung had first integrated flexible screen displays to the Galaxy Note Edge, which had a single-edge screen. Recently, the dual edge Galaxy S6 Edge got a lot of praises from the smartphone market.

Now, though, it would seem that Samsung has started working on Project V, short for Project Valley, according to Sam Mobile. It might still be in its early stages o development, but this particular project just might be the very first smartphone device to sport a foldable, dual screen display.

The main problem with this device will reportedly be related to its battery life. Samsung’s engineers have constantly been challenged with the notion of successfully making two energy-consuming screens, all in one smartphone device. A foldable, dual screen device sounds ambitious, but, if it does come to fruition, Samsung users can enjoy being able to switch between two AMOLED display panels.

Moreover, the rumor mill is abuzz with reports that Project V will be out as early as next year and that the Korean company has actually been pretty busy, making sure that their 2016 deadline for this special device is met.
