Samsung Internet, a web browser optimised for Samsung’s Gear VR is a latest virtual reality service by Samsung Electronics. The app will allow the user to browse the web for more 360-degree, immersive VR content without downloading it on to their smartphones.

Setting a new industry standard, Samsung Internet for Gear VR will further enrich the VR content ecosystem through a variety of on-line content. It supports 360-degree and 3D video streaming as well as any HTML5 video from the web, says Samsung in a press release.

“As a pioneer in the mobile VR industry, Samsung has continually worked to provide our users with a fully immersive mobile experience in the evolving world of virtual reality,” said Chan-Woo Park, Vice President of Product Strategy Team, IT & Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.

Furthermore, Internet for VR provides voice recognition to make text input easy and smooth. This feature is accompanied by an on-screen keyboard. The Gaze mode allows the users to select menus by simply looking at them. The Gaze app can also import bookmarks from the Galaxy device which has been sued as a display in the Gear VR.

The Samsung Gear VR is a virtual reality headset powered by Oculus, works with Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 smartphones. The smartphones work as a display for the headset to showcase the virtual reality experience. Users can simply place the smartphone inside the headset and enjoy the magical world of virtual reality.

The Samsung Gear VR web browser app is available for download from the Oculus Store. The light weight Samsung VR can play games like Gunjack, Mortal Blitz and Lands End.
