Samsung Gear Circle, Worn As A High-Tech Necklace, Launches In South Korea

In South Korea, Samsung launched a new tech accessory called Gear Circle. It is designed to be worn as a necklace, according to SammyHub. The high-tech accessory comes with a magnetic lock to secure and detach the clasp.

Aside from its design, Samsung Gear Circle also features some software functionalities such as capability to receive voice calls and play music tracks. It is compatible with Samsung Galaxy devices via Bluetooth connectivity to access its software functions including the capability to recognise voice commands via S Voice app as reported by SamMobile. Audio enhancement SoundAlive from Samsung has been added as well to the Gear Circle to improve audio output by delivering spacious sound, deep bass, enhanced tone and crystal audio quality by optimising the audio source whether from a music player or movie playback.

Unfortunately, it is not as super high-tech when compared directly to Google Glass, which offers more advanced software features than Samsung Gear Circle. Google Glass software features include Strava Run for real time running performance and analysis with sharing options to friends, navigation app for turn-by-turn guide when cycling or running, Swingbyte and GolfSight apps for golf players, SMS and private messaging support via Hangouts app, LynxFit as personal fitness coach and Google Play Music for playing audio tracks.

Samsung Gear Circle is sold in three colour schemes, black, white and blue-black, and costs 109,000 won or approximately $103.
