Phone shoppers who are still on the fence about Samsung Galaxy S7 might want to wait a bit longer. HTC’s One M10 is expected to be released on April 19, although HTC is yet to confirm the official release date of its new smartphone.

Here’s an overview of the comparative specs and features of both the handsets:

Design and display

Prevailing rumours indicate that the One M10 will have the look and feel of the popular HTC One A9. It is likely to arrive in a slim unibody all-metal design with chamfered edge chassis. The HTC One M10 is said to be the first smartphone in the One M series to sport a Quad HD display.

The smartphone is believed to feature a 5.1-inch or 5.2-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The phone is expected to come with IP68 certification, meaning it is supposed to be dust and water proof.

On the other hand, The Galaxy S7 smartphone features a 5.1-inch display with the latest Super AMOLED display with 2K Quad HD (2,560x1,440 pixels) resolution. The full water proof Galaxy S7 also touts an ‘Always On Display’ feature allowing the device to show basic notifications at all time.

Processor and RAM

When it comes to hardware, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is powered by two sets of processors depending on the market it sells in. The US variant of the device sports Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 820 whereas the international model features Samsung’s own octa-core Exynos 8890 chipset.

Samsung packed the Galaxy S7 with a gracious 4GB of RAM.

The HTC One M10 is also expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and a Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. According to Twitter leaker @LlabTooFeR, the device will be shipped with different processors in different markets.

Storage and memory expansion

The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with 32GB or 64GB storage options. The internal memory can be expanded up to 200GB . The device comes with hybrid SIM card tray which can be used for dual SIM cards.

HTC’s upcoming flagship is expected to come with multiple storage options including 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. As of this writing, there are very few reports on memory expansion feature of the device.

Camera

The latest teaser image of the HTC One M10 indicates that the device will sport dual-lens camera modules. The teaser reads “World First, World Class, Front and Back. You'll see.”

The HTC One M10 is believed to come with a 12 MP UltraPixel camera coupled with features like dual LED flash and laser autofocus. There will also be a 5MP UltraPixel front-facing camera sensor made by Samsung.

The Galaxy S7 sports Samsung’s first Dual Pixel camera which ensures “brighter and sharper images” in low light conditions. The smartphone features a 12-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), wider aperture (f/1.7), faster shutter speed and accurate auto-focus.

Software

The HTC One M10 is expected to come with Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow coupled with HTC Sense 8.0 UI. Samsung Galaxy S7 also shipped with the latest Android 6.0 OS out-of-the-box.

VR Experience

Citing Central News Agency (CNA) as its source, a report in Digitimes indicates that HTC’s upcoming 2016 flagship smartphone will come with support for Vive VR headset for viewing notifications and answer phone calls.

Samsung has also offered free Gear VR headsets with every pre-order of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Price

The HTC One M10 price has not yet been announced. According to AndroidPit, the price of the smartphone may start from US$700 (AU$923).

On the other hand, in Australia the Galaxy S7 price starts at AU$1,149 whereas the Galaxy S7 Edge is priced at AU$1,249.

The HTC One M10 (One 10) can prove to be a cheaper alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S7 with almost similar specs and features.
